I had one good hair day and it's gone to my head. I'm thanking my products as though I'm accepting an award. But in my mind I did win: I found my game changers. People think I'm good at makeup. But really they just notice my makeup, and that it's a new crazy color every time they see me. I know color and I like to experiment- give me an eyeshadow palette and I will go to town. As my last beauty post will attest,I like the FUN stuff. But when it comes to the basics- the right foundation, the right moisturizer, the right shampoo- I'm totally lost. Hence my elation at finding 4 new products that fit into the essentials category, are low maintenance, and help me improve (not change) what I've already got. This is particularly true of the hair and skin products as I've never had a skincare regimen and I never blow-dry, straighten or curl my hair. These products are miracles because they've actually given me confidence in my natural look-sans crazy eye makeup. Although I threw one of those in there too- gotta have my blue eyeliner.
Dr. Weil for Origins Mega-Bright: This serum changed my face. I wouldn't say I had acne but I definitely had scarring and discoloration. Within the first week of using it my skin was radiant. It gives the feeling of new skin- like retin-a but without the drying/irritation/redness etc. Now this is my skin regimen.
Almay Makeup remover Q-tips: I must have been living under a rock because how did I not know about these things! I have always (and only) used Almay makeup remover pads- they're heavy duty and get all the mascara off at the end of the night. But at the end of the work-day when I'm trying to remove the mascara remnants and black debris under my eyes, but keep my lashes intact these q-tips are perfect. Keep them in my bag so not to look like a hag.
Sephora Jumbo Liner 12HR wear in Electric Blue Matte: I'm usually really bad at creating a bold, even line with eyeliner, but with this jumbo version it's so easy. It goes on smooth and works like eyeliner and shadow in one. The color is perfect and it's cheap too.
Fekkai Essential Shea Pot de Creme: My friend told me this would solve my hair problems. I will always have hair problems, but the amazing thing about this product is that it took some of the frizz and curl out of my hair but not all of it. It was my hair but shinier and smoother, and I didn't have to do anything!
L'Oreal EverCreme Sulfate Free Shampoo: This product allows me to wash my hair daily without drying it out. I'm one of those people who prefers second day or slightly dirty hair as it's usually more relaxed. This gives me a good balance between moisture and clean. I no longer dread showers.
