When I had packed up all my stuff and was ready to head to the airport after a weekend at home my Mother was a little disappointed when I came down the stairs. She was concerned that my Blk Dnm Jeans, Chambray shirt and converse just wasn't chic enough for a day of travel. On some level I agreed with her, but I was tired and all my stuff was already tightly stuffed in my suitcase. She had a solution though, an Hermes scarf. "Here, let me tie it for you." I had a scared look on my face. My mother is a notorious fan of "the neck tie" version of the parisian silk staple. "Mom, I'm not wearing Ferragamo flats, I'm not going to play bridge, and I'm not over 50- I'm not wearing a neck scarf!"
However, with an undercover smile on her face, she managed to surprise me with a new style from the "how to tie" book that I hadn't seen before- "The pearl necklace" which is basically 3 square knots, one at the center and one on either side. As she started to bring it toward me I immediately wanted to put it on my head, where I knew it belonged. For me a head scarf is better than a neck scarf. I looked a little bit like the Statue of Liberty we agreed, but my denim outfit needed something chic and fun, so I kept it. I loved the look so much I had to pair it with denim again. I have to admit this look is so me (with my black scrunchy and all.)
